UPDATE: Timetables have been updated due to flooding and damage on the Milford Road. There will be limited photo stops on the way to Milford Sound: Mirror Lakes and Eglinton Valley will be the only planned stops. If time allows we may make additional stops. Estimated time of arrival into Milford Sound will be 1pm and the duration of the cruises is unchanged.
With a well-deserved reputation as one of the world’s most spectacular fiords, Milford Sound is amid magnificent alpine landscapes in the World Heritage Fiordland National Park. Your deluxe coach will feature a glass roof on most departures to take best advantage of the stunning scenery all around you.
Travel along the shores of Lake Te Anau and along the Milford Road, featuring some of the most stunning scenery in the world - towering snow-capped mountains, magnificent rain forests, and spectacular waterfalls. Photo stops at features like the Eglinton Valley, Mirror Lakes and The Chasm will be made along the way (weather and road conditions permitting). Before descending into Milford Sound, travel through the Homer Tunnel, carved through the solid rock beneath the Southern Alps.
When you reach Milford Sound, board your boat for a 1 hour 45 minute Milford Sound cruise. You'll see iconic Mitre Peak, which rises from the ocean floor to 1 mile above sea level; and spectacular waterfalls cascading down the sheer rock faces that surround the fiord. Keep an eye out for the dolphins, seals, and penguins that live in this wonderful location.
At the end of your cruise, return to Te Anau by coach, arriving early evening. Optional return flight available at extra cost, weather permitting – please see your driver for more details.
