Experience the beauty and history of the iconic Bay of Islands region on a full-day tour from Auckland to Paihia.
Travel north through picturesque countryside to the seaside town of Paihia, then further on to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a guided tour to learn about the historical significance of this site. In 1840, a historic treaty was signed here between Māori and the British government. You'll see the historic Treaty House, the beautifully carved marae (meeting house) and magnificent waka (war canoe). You'll gain insight into Māori culture and New Zealand history at Waitangi, then return to Paihia for your Hole in the Rock dolphin watching cruise.
This three-hour cruise takes you out among sun-drenched islands to the remote Cape Brett lighthouse and the Hole in the Rock, which you can pass right through if conditions permit.
Keep an eye out for marine and bird life including dolphins, whales, seals, and penguin as you listen to commentary from the skipper about the history and geography of the region. Your cruise then returns to Paihia for your return coach journey to Auckland.
